The MARASHA natural reserve was born three years ago on January 2, 2005 through the initiative of Mr. JUAN CASTILLO BAUTISTA and ITALO ARBELAEZ BAUTISTA, family originally from the Amazon region and is familiar with the jungle.
This natural reserve is composed of an extension of jungle and Lake MARASHA, on one of the boundaries of this paradise, huts of accommodation were built, facilities that are located approximately 3.5 kms riverfront of the Amazon river, the total area it is considered about 2 kms on the margins of the river and about 5 kms inside the jungle (10 kms. Approximately), total area.
With the purpose of encouraging ecological tourism the authorities and inhabitants of Port alegria (Peru) agreed on the benefits of conserving and preserving the area, so that through general assembly was agreed to declare MARASHA a natural reserve, giving encouragement as a contribution for each tourist who enters the site for social projects for the community.
The name MARASHA, comes from a small thorny, palm, which is around the lake and its fruits provide food for fish and birds.
We start with a capacity for 20 tourists with the construction of a two-story maloca, kitchen, dining room and two bathrooms modules, it was subsequently expanded. Four more malocas were built, a bigger dining room, bridges establish contact with all facilities and dock rest.
It currently has a total capacity of 50 visitors.
